Artists live forever through their work and their contribution to the world around us. Nearly every place or thing you see has been drawn, written about, composed as a play, a song, or a ballad. Even seemingly mundane things such as freeway systems and roadways were, at one point, the work of brilliant (or not so brilliant, as in the case of the roads here in Houston Texas) architects who had to summon that strange muse that exists in the hearts and minds of those of us who are compelled to create things. Anyone who plays an insturnment, writes a verse, acts a part, designs a flyer, paints a picture on canvas or an alias on the side of an abandoned building is submitting to something as chaotic and overwhelming as it is beautiful- The hunger to creaate.
When I first began brainstorming this blog, I hadn’t the slightest idea what direction I wanted to go In. I gave up writing as a craft about 5 years ago to focus solely on music and being active in the underground scene. I will certainly post opinion pieces about punk, hardcore, metal, hip hop and electronic music, including some album reviews. I will also post a lot of personal poetry and prose, as I have been a creative writer for some time.
To put it succinctly enough, I am here to express myself through my ability to use words, and my knowledge of many obscure facts of life to put forth quality pieces of art and observation in a way that may spark debate, questions, or even praise. I am going to try my damndest to stay within certain topical parameters, but I imagine my wide range of nerd interests might be a little all over the place. It will be a sort of live journal with poems, essays on music or social commentary, as well as short stories and the beginnings of a fantasy saga involving another dimension and the realms of human possibility.
This project is very personal to me, so I don’t yet know where these amateur scribblings will take me, but it is my intention to explore all avenues. Writing is a cathartic and soothing art, that I use in many different ways. I believe the imagination to be the keeper of our inner selves and the means by which we communicate with the forces of the universe we do not understand. I hope that perhaps someone may enjoy my literary exploration of the things around us as much as I do. Thank You
